Description:
Opuntia humifusa 'North Carolina' is an eastern prickly pear native to eastern North America east of the Rockies including Ontario. It is a prostrate plant comprised of small, bright green oval pads with few spines. Large, yellow flowers are followed by bright red fruit which persists throughout the year. Growth habit is 5 - 18 inches high by 36 inches wide. This is one of the most moisture tolerant cacti in existence and will usually grow in normal garden soil. Great in the container and rock garden. Easy to grow.
