Description:
Dactylorhiza maculata, the heath spotted orchid, hales from northwestern Europe and the British Isles. It produces beautiful spikes up to 18 inches high densely packed with pale pink flowers spotted with purple. The leaves are spotted with burgundy red. Despite its marshy natural habitat, this orchid does well in evenly moist garden soils in full to part sun. Possibly hardy to zone 4.
