Leucojum aestivum or summer snowflake is a spring-blooming bulb with arching stems to a foot or more with pendulous pure white flowers with green markings. It has long, grass-like foliage. 'Gravetye Giant' is a vigorous cultivar with larger flowers than the species introduced by horticulturalist and garden writer William Robinson who named it in honour of his home, Gravetye Manor.
