Description:
Tulipa sylvestris is known as the woodland tulip. It is a tall botanical tulip to about 12 inches blooming later than the others with arching or nodding golden yellow buds with green mid ribs opening upwards to starry blooms with pointed petals. Grow in full sun to part shade. Native from the western Mediterranean Basin to western China. Botanical tulips are miniature to small species tulips, cultivars of species, or dwarf named cultivars not far removed from their wild ancestors. They are strongly perennial in good drainage with full sun and will naturalize when happy.
