Arum maculatum is an exotic and intriguing species with common names like devils and angels, naked boys, lords-and-ladies, Adam and Eve, cows and bulls, and cuckoopint, among others! It is a tuberous perennial with glossy, arrow shaped leaves up to 8 inches long emerging in spring followed by inflorescences up to 20 inches tall of pale yellow to green spathes with a central, deep purple to soft yellow spadix. The spathes are sometimes spotted or flushed with burgundy. The seeds ripen in summer into a tight vertical orange cluster. Perfect for areas with shade to morning sun.
