Olea europaea 'Taggiasca' is the most common variety grown in Liguria, Italy along the Mediterranean adjacent to France. When picked green the small fruit gives an oil that is both fruity and floral and suits the Italian pallet as it has a sharp finish. When picked black, the oil is light and sweetly perfumed and suits the French taste. Trees are medium sized with lush, weeping branches excellent for container growing. Self fertile.
