Kniphofia rooperi is a late summer blooming red hot poker with large, red, egg-shaped flowers fading to yellow.
One of the most dramatic of the Red-hot pokers, Kniphofia rooperi is sure to evoke awe with its exotic form and flower. When the rest of the garden tires in late summer, large, egg-shaped flowers emerge from bright buds on top of 4 feet tall spikes revealing bright red tubular flowers gradually fading to yellow in autumn. Flowers remain well into fall. The foliage is evergreen, long and arching. Requires moist but well-drained soil. Provides vertical appeal in beds and borders, in informal settings and coastal gardens. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Deer and rabbit resistant.
