Haemanthus montanus uniquely grows in seasonally wet habitats with creamy white umbels in summer.
Haemanthus montanus is an eastern South African bulb which uniquely grows in seasonally wet habitats created by the characteristic summer rainfall of the region blooming in dense stands of creamy white umbels in summer quickly followed by two upright , tongue-like, bluish green leaves. The fruit is red. Keep moist in the summer when in growth and dry in the winter when dormant. Plant the bulb just below the surface or slightly exposed. This is a non-hardy bulb that can be grown as a houseplant or in a heated greenhouse or sunroom. It's perfect for those interested in bulbs and houseplants and for succulent lovers looking to branch out. Tolerant of cool temperatures possibly to zone 8 but safest protected from freezing. Our nursery-grown bulbs are adult blooming size.
