Vaccinium ovatum is a handsome BC native plant known as evergreen huckleberry that has many uses in the garden. The foliage is small, ovate, evergreen and glossy and tinted with red when young maturing to dark green. The pink to white, urn-shaped flowers give way to showy, edible dark blue to near-black berries in late summer. Self-fertile. Use as an informal hedge, specimen, and in pots on the patio. Hummingbird, bee, and butterfly attractor. Deer resistant.
