Iris x hollandica or Dutch iris are beautiful hybrids for hot sunny locations. 'Carmen' is a delicate beauty with ivory white flowers accented with lavender and yellow. Dutch iris make great cut flowers. Plant them in a location with well-drained to dryish soils where they can bake in the summer months when dormant. Overplant with ground covers like thyme, Sedum and Delosperma.
