('productnameshort')

Ammocharis coranica Dark Maroon Form hails from the Kalahari with amazing umbels of fragrant deep red flowers.

Description:
Ammocharis coranica is a rare amaryllis relative called Karoo, ground, or sand lily that is found throughout the South African Karoo into Zimbabwe and Kenya. It grows in sandy habitats that are seasonally wet in the summer but that can experience extended periods of drought in the winter. In summer it forms clumps of up to 15 large, dramatic, tongue-like leaves that can reach 1-2 feet long. The large, dramatic umbels of extremely fragrant flowers are deep reddish maroon in this form from the Kalahari. It can be kept completely dry and dormant in winter but can also remain evergreen year round if kept warm and watered. There are also reports that it can bloom a few times a year. Plant with the top of the neck at soil level. This is a non-hardy bulb that can be grown as a houseplant or in a heated greenhouse or sunroom. It's perfect for those interested in bulbs and houseplants and for succulent lovers looking to branch out. Our bulbs are 2 years old as of 2023 and can reach adult blooming size at 6-8 years old.
