Crinum macowanii is a hardy species with broad, rippled, blue-green foliage and large, highly fragrant, white and pink flowers.
Description:
Crinum macowanii is native to a wide swathe of east, central and southern Africa in a variety of habitats. It has long been used as a medicinal herb by various cultures and thus has many different common names in their languages and in English including Cape coast lily, river crinum, sabie crinum, common vlei lily and pyjama lily. It is a beautiful hardy species with broad, rippled, architectural, blue-green foliage topped throughout the summer with large, highly fragrant, white outward-facing and pendent trumpets with pink keels on the reverses. Can be grown in sun or light shade. Best in moist soils. Our nursery-grown bulbs are 3 years old as of 2023 and will bloom after a few more years.
