Polypodium vulgare 'Cornubiense' is a special form where many of the fronds are dissected giving a lacy texture.
Description:
Common polypody (Polypodium vulgare) is an epiphytic and lithophytic species from the old world that grows on trees and walls and in rocky habitats. It has triangular, leathery mid green fronds about 12 inches long that arise from horizontal rhizomes. 'Cornubiense' is a special form where many of the fronds have an extra level of dissection to the pinnae giving them a lacy texture. Plants will produce both lacy and normal fronds. Common polypody is somewhat drought tolerant once established and can remain evergreen with year-round moisture. Grow it in hanging baskets, in shady crevices or on thin evenly moist soils as a ground cover.
