Succisa pratensis, also known as blue buttons or devil's-bit scabious is a perennial wildflower. Known for its up to 24 inch tall stems on which perch solitary one inch wide, globular, pincushion-like flowers in vibrant purple to blue that blooms from summer to early autumn. The flowers are nectar and pollen-rich and used medicinally in the past. Simple, lightly toothed foliage is produced at the base of the plant. An easy-care perennial that prefers moist and well-drained soil. Use in the sunny to part shade border, the pollinator garden, and as cut flowers. Pollinator attractor. Photo: Wikipedia.
