I think the toad lilies are marvelous. Unfortunately, they are less well known than they deserve since they bloom in late summer and fall. If they bloomed in spring when everyone was shopping they would be very popular. Trust me and try one out! Tricyrtis ‘Dark Beauty’ has loose cymes of amazing, white orchid-like flowers with multitudes of magenta-purple spots. These are borne on tall, upright stems with semi-clasping, slightly hairy, dark green, long oval leaves.
