Salix magnifica is a beautiful and interesting large shrub or small tree with large, broad, bluish-green leaves that are whitish beneath and veined red. The leaves emerge with red and purple tints and are held on red stems. The look of the foliage is much more typical of a magnolia than a willow. It has 6-8 inch long yellow to orange and burgundy catkins in spring. Native to panda country in China.
