Aster divaricatus 'Eastern Star' is a shade aster with jet black stems and clouds of tiny white flowers in fall.
Description:
Aster divaricatus 'Eastern Star', the white wood aster, was originally discovered in coastal Rhode Island. It is shorter than the standard species and has deep, dark, shining, mahogany stems. The small but numerous white flowers with yellow centers fade to subtle burgundy and rose-pink. A must for the shade garden and tolerant of dry shade which makes it a real bonus. Now known scientifically as Eurybia divaricata.
