Description:
Deep purple buds open to smoky violet-purple flowers with lemon yellow keels. The long-lasting flowers appear on upright spikes in late spring about 1-2 weeks later than ‘Starlite Prairieblues’. Three year old plants can have 100+ flowering stems! Continued interest is provided by the attractive, blue-green, trifoliate foliage and the charcoal black seed pods in fall. This is a large cultivar growing up to five feet tall so give it plenty of room to grow. A hybrid of Baptisia australis x sphaerocarpa. Photo courtesy of Walters Gardens.
