Description:
Woodwardia unigemmata produces long, red fronds with a lustrous, metallic sheen that slowly turn to green with age. The large fronds are naturally arching and can cover a lot of ground with fronds 3-6 feet long! Small baby ferns are produced at the leaf tips. Hardy in coastal BC planted in protected microclimates such as up against the house or under the branches of coniferous trees. Provide a winter mulch to be safe. In colder zones, it can make an amazing pot specimen that you overwinter in a cool room, a sunroom, or a greenhouse.
