Candelabras of yellow daisies atop mounds of dramatic foliage.
Description:
Silphium compositum 'Native Star' is a really cool plant. A native of the southeastern US it forms mounds of large, dramatic, lobed foliage (not kidney-shaped at all!) with red midveins. In summer the plants put forth 6-8 foot candelabras of small, yellow daisies popular with butterflies. Grow in sunny, dry spots. Tap rooted so do not move after plants are established.
