Carex flaccosperma, the blue wood sedge, is a striking eastern US species with amazing linear foliage coloured blue-green to powder blue which spreads slowly in shade and woodland conditions to form a unique groundcover. Foliage is evergreen in mild climates, but benefits from a shearing in spring, or herbaceous in colder zones. Tolerant of dry shade and a wide range of soils.
