Trillium albidum is rare in cultivation and so elegant in the shade garden with sessile white petals and mottled foliage.
Description:
Sweet Trillium has large sessile white flowers that are mildly fragrant. The leaves are green and can be mottled with brownish or dark green spots. This species is rarely available and makes an elegant addition to the shade garden, especially planted in drifts. Remember that trilliums can take a year off underground in the year after planting. Trillium are exquisite plants for the shade garden blooming in early to mid spring with their elegant flowers. They are spring ephemerals that may go dormant by summer. Keep in mind that they may go dormant early in the year they are first planted and could sulk a bit in their second year before settling in for beautiful displays for years to come.
