Description:
Asphodeline lutea is known as king's spear or yellow asphodel. It is an eastern Mediterranean plant with linear, bluish to greyish green, grass-like leaves and vertical spikes to 3-4 feet high with fragrant, yellow, lily-like flowers. It is tolerant of dry soils once established. It offers a somewhat shaggy textural presence in the garden but is also stately and interesting as a focal point and as an unusual perennial to stump your friends.
