Citrus-AustralianFingerLime-Microcitrus australasica Red Skin

('productnameshort')

Citrus australasica Red Skin can have fruit with skin with a reddish cast hiding the tasty, clear "lime caviar" within.

Description:
Microcitrus australasica, the Australian finger lime, is a lime relative from Australia and a top citrus for foodies. It grows as a small tree or a shrub with fragrant, white flowers followed by long cylindrical fruit that are filled with tiny vesicles that have been described as "lime caviar". They can be sprinkled on desserts or Asian dishes for a burst of lime flavour or used to make marmalades. Our Red Skin form is new to us starting in fall 2022. The fruit can be dark green to near black but often with a reddish cast depending on the growing conditions. The fruit inside is clear. Requires lots of heat to flower and fruit, more than other Citrus, and more protection in winter. All of our citrus are grafted onto C-35 citrange, trifoliate orange, or other semi-dwarfing rootstock which confer good hardiness and production while reducing overall tree size.
