Pleioblastus distichus is one of the smallest species of bamboo and, if mown once a year, can be a lawn substitute!
Description:
Pleioblastus distichus is one of the smallest species of bamboo. It has strongly upright stems with stiff, mid to dark green leaves held like a fan and has a spreading habit -- clumps will gradually spread in a leading edge rather than stems popping up miles away. It grows to just two feet tall but if you mow it each spring you can maintain it as a lawn to just a few inches tall! So cute. So fun. Also great as a bonsai.
