Chrysosplenium macrophyllum is a rare groundcover with leathery leaves, burgundy when young, and fragrant clusters of white flowers.
Description:
I love this unusual, rare groundcover given to us by our friends Margaret and Charlie. Chrysosplenium macrophyllum is a stoloniferous, Chinese, evergreen perennial forming dense colonies of hairy, textured, leathery green leaves. In early spring it blooms with flat-topped clusters of lightly fragrant white flowers with pink stamens. The new foliage begins to emerge at this time first deep burgundy-red, then tan then maturing to green.
