Anemone ranunculoides is a species with bright yellow flowers related to the better known A. nemorosa. It is a charming woodland groundcover that produces cute little flowers less than in inch wide in early spring above nicely dissected foliage. Known as yellow wood anemone, plant it around dark flowered hellebores to help show them off against the dark soil or as an ephemeral groundcover beneath deciduous trees and shrubs. It will go dormant in mid to late summer.
